It was a welcome exchange of ideas.
Royal Homes officials welcomed Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and Associate Minister of Housing Rob Flack to our 110,000-square foot production facility for a tour and positive dialogue on ways Prefab Housing can help ease Ontario’s housing crisis.
“Royal Homes is certainly leading by example when it comes to affordable, prefabricated home development and building in Ontario,” Thompson said. “Royal Homes’ experience and efficient processes certainly enable them to be part of the solution when it comes to satisfying the housing demand across the province,” she added.
Royal Homes president Pieter Venema was impressed by the MPPs willingness to listen and government plans for Prefab demonstration homes on lands made available by municipal and provincial land banks.
“We discussed opportunities to work together to ramp up the production of prefab homes throughout Ontario,” Venema said.
“We were pleased at the Ontario government’s willingness to meet us directly and listen to what we, as industry leaders, have to say about housing.”
Royal Homes, a leading builder in custom prefab homes since 1971, believes the Ontario government genuinely wants to boost the supply of affordable housing in Ontario. The government is very supportive of Prefab Housing as one of the solutions to deliver high-quality homes to the various land banks owned by municipal and provincial governments as they come in line for development.
Thompson and Flack, the MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London engaged in a very positive dialogue and were impressed with a tour of Royal’s production facility.
“We appreciate the collaborative effort,” Venema said.
